What this site is and what it doesn’t do
Green Kalahari Design is an online publication. We currently publish articles and do not run a store, take orders or payments, operate a newsletter, display advertising, or run affiliate tracking. We do not use third-party analytics on this site.
Accounts are not open for public registration. One or more administrators manage the site.
Information you choose to send us
If you email us, we receive the contents of your message along with standard email metadata (such as your email address, mail server information, and the time sent). We use this to reply and to manage the conversation you started. Depending on the nature of your message, we may keep related correspondence while we work on your request and for our records.
Comments on articles
Articles may allow readers to leave comments. When you submit a comment, WordPress asks for your name, email address, and (optionally) a website URL. Your IP address and browser user agent may also be captured to help detect spam and troubleshoot delivery.
If you opt in when commenting, WordPress can place a cookie in your browser so it remembers your details the next time you comment. That cookie is optional and exists only on your device.
Submitted comments, once approved, are displayed publicly with the name you provided. Your email address is not published.
Technical data received by our hosting and CDN
Like most sites, our hosting environment and content delivery/cache layer keep standard server logs. These logs typically include your IP address, the pages you request, the date and time of the request, and your browser’s user agent and referrer string. We use this information to operate the site, improve performance, and protect against abuse.
Our cache/CDN provider may temporarily store copies of site content in multiple regions to deliver pages quickly and reliably. In the course of doing so, it will receive your IP address and request details.
Cookies and similar storage
This site uses only the cookies needed to run WordPress and optional comment convenience cookies.
• WordPress sets session and preference cookies for logged-in administrators. Visitors who are not administrators do not receive these admin cookies.
• If you leave a comment and choose the “remember” option, cookies on your device will store the name, email, and site you entered so you do not have to retype them on your next visit.

Why we have this data and how long we keep it
We process personal data to publish and moderate comments, respond to correspondence, keep the site secure and reliable, and understand site performance at a technical level.
• Emails: kept for as long as needed to handle your request and maintain reasonable records.
• Comments: the comment and its moderation metadata are kept as long as the comment remains on the site and for moderation history.
• Server and CDN logs: retained for a limited period suitable for security, troubleshooting, and capacity planning, after which they are deleted or anonymized.
Who can see your information
Access is limited to site administrators and service providers we use to run this website (for example, hosting and caching/CDN). When you email us, your message is processed by your email provider and ours. These parties process data only to provide their services to us. We do not sell your personal information and we do not share it with advertisers.
International handling
Because hosting and caching networks operate in multiple countries, your IP address and the content you request may be processed outside your state or country. We take reasonable steps to work with providers that handle data responsibly and only for operating this site.
Your choices and rights
You can choose not to leave a comment or to comment without using the remember-me option. You can also disable cookies in your browser; the site will still load, though comment convenience features will not remember your details.
You may request access to the personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct it, delete it, or object to certain processing. To make a request, email [email protected]. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.
If you believe your data protection rights have been infringed, you can lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.
Children’s privacy
Our content is intended for a general audience interested in design and sustainability and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will address it.

We may update this page as our site or practices change. The latest version will always be available here. If a change is material, we may post a notice on the site to draw attention to it.
